There are so many carpet retailers out there how do you know you are getting the best service and cheapest carpet prices for the carpet you require?
As we all know you pay more for some carpet retailers just because of there name or franchise, but are they any better just because of there name?
Many customers feel they are getting cheaper carpet prices and good customer service or even a guarantee because they are well-known or advertise on the television. But this really is not the case. Infact it could even work the opposite way for many customers. You do not get that special one on one customer service that you get with the smaller carpet retailers. Some carpet retailers even give the impression that they are actually doing you a favor by coming to see you, that's if they actually turn up on the day.
Small carpet retailers have more reason and responsibility to do a good job so to get recommendations and more work through a job well done. In many cases you will get a better after service with a small carpet retailer and you will probably find they will be fitting the job for you as well which is a big bonus. They measure and know the job before hand and can advise you on how the carpet should be laid. With the larger carpet retailers they sub contract the layers so each person that comes to your home will be a new face and would not know about conversations you may have had with the estimator or when making the appointment.
We all know word of mouth is a very powerful tool and smaller carpet retailers rely on this. If you had your carpets fitted at a great price and they did a professional job which you were really happy with, you would be tell your friends and family etc, but if a bad job is done it seem to spread like wild flower which is not what a smaller carpet retailer wants.
The smaller carpet retailers have more freedom to give cheaper carpet prices as they can keep there over heads to a minimum and can allow for further discounts which others can not. Larger carpet retailers have large margins that they need to cover and over heads that the smaller carpet retailers do not have.
The only way round it is to get a few quote and see what each company is like and what they have to say and offer. You don't really want the hard sell at the end of the day, just a trust worthy company who are informative, professional, experienced and going to do the job right and not charge an arm and a leg for there services. You would normally get a feel for the company/sales person when they walk in the door as well as when you made the appointment over the telephone.
Its all part of the customer experience with that company and it starts from the moment you pick up the telephone or send that email.
